SWEDISH INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP FOR GLOBAL PROFESSIONALS 2026
The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals supports talented international students who want to study a full-time Master’s degree in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future leaders who will contribute to sustainable development in their home countries and globally. This is a fully funded scholarship.
You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries announced by the Swedish Institute each year. These are mainly countries from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.
Study Level Requirement
- You must apply for an eligible Master’s programme in Sweden.
- The programme must be full-time and English-taught.
Tuition Fee Requirement
- You must be required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
- This usually applies to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
Work Experience Requirement
- You must have documented work experience.
- Generally, at least 3,000 hours of work experience is required.
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Freelancing
- Entrepreneurship
- Internship experience (if allowed for your country)
Leadership Experience Requirement
You must show leadership experience. This can include:
- Managing people or teams
- Leading projects
- Supervisory roles
- Community or volunteer leadership
Apply for a Master’s Programme (First Mandatory Step)
You must apply for Master’s programmes in Sweden before applying for the scholarship.
- Apply through the national Swedish university admissions system.
- You may apply to up to four Master’s programmes.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit all required academic documents before the deadline.
Application period usually runs from October to January.
Prepare Scholarship Documents
Before the scholarship application opens, prepare the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (using the required format)
- Proof of work experience
- Proof of leadership experience
- Motivation statement explaining:
- Your career goals
- Why you chose Sweden
- How your studies will contribute to sustainable development
- Reference letters (if required)
- Copy of passport or national ID
All documents must follow the instructions provided for the scholarship year.
Submit Scholarship Application
- Apply through the Swedish Institute scholarship portal.
- Enter your university application number.
- Select the Master’s programmes you applied for.
- Upload all required documents.
- Submit one scholarship application only.
The scholarship application window is usually open for about two weeks in February.
